So for the past year and a half I've had this
pic as my desktop in work (on a rota with the JD Rolling Stone cover - sometimes I just need the pretty!). Now it seems the universe has finally decided to call my bluff, as I've just been given voluntary redundancy from a job I've been in for 12 years. That's pretty much most of my adult working life.
For a couple of years I've had plans to move to Spain, but it's always seemed quite far off, and the idea of giving up a secure job has scared me shitless. However the job (which I used to love) has gradually become crappier over the past year or so, and when they recently announced redundancies I thought it was the universe's way of saying 'Your taxi's outside'.
So I (along with another two managers) asked for redundancy, which they refused. We asked again, they refused. And so on and so on, until we took our case to the union and eventually the company decided to offer us redundancy *dances*.
So the Spain plans have been moved forward to autumn 2010 and hopefully this time next year I'll be updating LJ from the roof terrace of my Valencia apartment!!
It's very exciting and a wee bit scary, but it's an amazing opportunity for me to move onto pastures new, just like I've been wanting to do for years.
Dream more, work less. I intend to.
