I do believe the appropriate word is 'Squee'..."

This...

...has left me with a huge grin on my face. If the actual movie is anything like the trailer then I am one very happy bunny. Minimal FX, focus on the characters rather than the setpieces, sharp dialogue, vibrant cinematography. "That's the Jack I know," says Gibbs. COuldn't agree more, mate :D

Shady's back, tell a friend...

Well, it's been a while since I've been around these parts so I'm feeling a little bit out of the loop. Not sure why I fell away from old eljay, but I think it's because I haven't had a true fandom obsession for some time. I still don't really (although Sherlock is pushing all my buttons at the moment!) but I do miss keeping up with everyone.

Had a little project come to fruition recently which I hope to be able to tell you a bit more about soon, but in the meantime what's been happening with you lot. Is anyone even still around?

Things on the teevees I has been mostly loving this week.

So my new found status as a workshy layabout has given me more time to be catching up on the shows I didn't really have time to watch before.

First and foremost is Modern Family. Ace. It's been likened to Arrested Development for obvious reasons, and while it doesn't really have that absurd quality that AD had, the humour is definitely on par. Best new show on the box.

Secondly, I'm delighted to have discovered Fringe at last (thanks eken95!), especially as I now have a season and a half to catch up on. The writing is top notch, the characters are engaging (Pacey, I never stopped loving you and I never will!), there is enough humour to keep it lively, and the plots are fast moving and intriguing. And the hints of ship - guaranteed to get me hooked.

Lastly, I've been watching Eli Stone, mainly because of my recently discovered crush on Jonny Lee Miller after his stint as Mr Knightly. I think the pilot was the best of the bunch to be honest, but the show is enjoyable and his character is adorable and there are plenty of laugh out loud moments to keep me interested.

Oh and I've also discovered that this strange interest in SGU doesn't seem to be going away. Hmmm... I wonder if there is a lotion available for that...

The long day is over

So the job's done and today was emotional. After some news that was revealed today about changes that are going to be happening from next week, I'm more overjoyed than ever to be finally out of that place, but I will miss the amazing friends I've made there. Of course, we'll be keeping in touch, but it's not the same as seeing them every day.

On the plus side, I got some fabulous pressies. A few gorgeous floral bouquets, a Fossil watch, Warehouse vouchers, vodka (yey vodka!), the most awesome minature desktop Henry Hoover. I also got a beautiful notebook that everyone in the office had written a special goodbye message in. There were tears.

But by far my favourite present was from the three girls in my team who have been with me for the past four years. They gave me a leather bound monogrammed 'ideas' journal so I can work on my auth-or skillz, and a beautiful fountain pen set.

By the time I left the building I was an absolute wreck! I will miss the people (but not the place).
